8 Ways to Get the Most out of Yoga with YogiFi

As we at Yogifi know, when done correctly and prepared enough for, yoga can be an incredibly rewarding experience!

Unfortunately, though, there may be some things you’re missing that could be dampening your yoga experience.

In this blog post, we will share 8 simple ways to make your yoga experience even more enjoyable!

1) Get Some Fresh Air Before Your Yoga Class

Yoga is about connecting with the world around you, so why not start there? Take 10 minutes or so before class to head outside and enjoy nature. Make sure you’re coming back in time if it’s cold, though!

2) Clear Your Mind Beforehand

It can be difficult enough just trying to remember what pose comes next in a sequence during a flow class. So why add another thing to remember when you’re trying to concentrate on that?

Before entering the studio, write down your thoughts and any worries in a journal so they don’t distract you during class. This will allow your mind to be completely empty before beginning!

3) Dress for Success

The old saying “less is more” doesn’t apply to yoga. Yogis are taught that you should wear whatever makes you comfortable and at ease during class, so go ahead and dress for success! Even if it’s a little cool outside, a sweater is probably not the best idea.

4) Hydrate!

Before, during, and after class. Yogis are taught to drink lots of water before yoga because it helps enhance their performance in the studio as well as prevent injury from dehydration or overheating!

During a flow-style yoga class you sweat much more than usual, so drinking throughout is especially important! And after? Hydration keeps your electrolytes up, preventing a total energy crash.

5)  Bring a Towel

We definitely recommend that you bring a towel to class. This will help keep your mat clean and free of sweat so it smells fresh longer, as well as prevent slipping during floor poses! Don’t want to spend money on a yoga towel? Just use an old beach or bath towel instead!

6) Get in the Right Mindset

Don’t come to class with expectations of perfection because this will only lead to disappointment and frustration. Every individual has their own unique practice method so it’s important not to compare yourself or your abilities against others!

7) Find the Right Class for You

Just like not every yoga class is perfect for everyone, not all teachers are great at teaching! Try a few different classes (many offer a free trial class) in your area to see which one truly fits you.

8) Don’t Get Stuck in a Rut

One of the most important things to remember when you’re practicing yoga is that it’s not just another workout! It should be FUN and exciting, so try new types of classes, different poses, whatever you can find to shake things up!
